TEENAGE DAYDREAM
IN PROGRESS
Teenage DayDream is a long-term documentary photography project that focuses on the world of Japanese conventions in the South of France and the young men and women (cosplayers) who play the role of their favorite fictional characters. The series takes an amused look at the sometimes comical situations encountered during these events.
In a complex societal context, many people take advantage of these events to meet people, share their passion, find themselves within a community and celebrate pop culture.
From the west to the east of the South of France, there are more than twenty events each year and a total of more than fifty in France. Japanese conventions are very successful and reach an increasingly large audience, men and women wishing to celebrate their love for pop culture.
Through the photos captured at the main conventions in the South of France, the series paints a portrait of these young cosplayers who live their best life, that of their favorite characters, for a day.
